And that is why I love the rose era, the Martha era and the Donna era.
They felt like we, as an audience, could connect to those character. Everyone wants to be picked up by the doctor because even he said ‘I’ve never met someone who wasn’t important’ - or something along those lines. Now it feels like you have to be extra special to be companion of the doctor. Kids are watching this and thinking ‘that can’t be me’ - so many dreams are crushed, this is a kids show and if you can’t make them believe it’s real then what are you going to do?
Stop with the queer baiting, stop with the fantastical companions and stop with the rushed plots. Go back to when the Doctor was the doctor and could whisk you away at any moment, that the TARDIS would turn up and a man in a long coat, a leather jacket or a leek would take your hand and said those three words that we so long to hear
“Come with me”
